Privacy Policy

Sumigo does not sell personal data or use it for advertising or tracking.

Data Stored On Device

Learning progress, custom vocabulary cards, review history, profile name, voice choices, and transcription preferences are stored on the user's device for app functionality.

Drawn handwriting strokes and recognition results are processed on device and are not sent to Google. Strokes are cleared after the user selects a candidate, clears the pad, or closes it.

Network and Third Parties

The first time handwriting input is used, Sumigo downloads the Japanese recognition model from Google. After that download, handwriting recognition works offline.

Google ML Kit may receive app and device information, a per-installation identifier, configured language, performance and API configuration metrics, event types, and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics.

Sumigo does not include advertising, does not use collected data to track users across other companies' apps or websites, and does not send learning data or handwriting content to third-party services.

Retention and Deletion

Local learning data and preferences remain on the device while Sumigo is installed so progress and settings persist between sessions.

Deleting Sumigo removes its locally stored learning data, review history, profile information, preferences, and downloaded handwriting model from the device.

Open Data Sources

Dictionary, kanji, grammar, sentence, and stroke-order content comes from open datasets credited in the app under Data Sources & Licenses.
